It’s a Meet the Team blog post kind of day, and today, we’re highlighting Rachel Lieurance, Associate Consultant here at ResultsLab.
A believer that organizations can create their own data solutions, Rachel Lieurance helps our clients simplify complex and sometimes confusing ideas on a daily basis. Prior to joining ResultsLab, Rachel enjoyed roles as both a Program Associate and as a Research and Impact Project Assistant with The Colorado Education Initiative. She also completed a fellowship with Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation.
Rachel earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Global Health at Colorado College and has a special interest in work that centers on education and public health. Now, let’s get to it.
Q: What are your hobbies?
I love to run, do yoga, read, make food out of flour (pretzels, pasta, scones, etc.), and make and drink fun drinks (kombucha! Punch! Chai!). I also love a good walk or hike with my friends/family.
Q: What’s your favorite quote/mantra?
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” – Marianne Williamson
Q: Who would you most like to swap places with for the day?
Michelle Obama – After recently reading her book, Becoming, I was struck by her persistence and her passion for mentoring and supporting women. I would love to spend a day in her shoes living the great work she does. Also, Michelle and I share a passion for good veggies and a good workout!
Q: Tell us something we don’t know about you.
I tap-danced for 10+ years of my life.
Q: What are your top 3 favorite podcasts/books/blogs to follow?
- Work Life with Adam Grant and Women at Work podcasts are in my regular rotation thanks to my colleague Bonnie.
- As a political science nerd, I like to keep up with The Daily podcast from the New York Times.
- I could go on all day about my favorite books. I’m currently reading the Underground Railroad, which is a fantastic read.
Q: Describe your job in 3 words.
It’s fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding at the same time.
Q: What do you appreciate most about working at ResultsLab?
I love working with such passionate and knowledgeable colleagues. This team’s heart is in the right place, and we are constantly striving to get better and grow together. I also am motivated by seeing the strides our clients make every day. Our clients are not afraid get their hands dirty and solve the hard problems they encounter in their data practice and beyond. I feel lucky that I get to help build the capacity of non-profits who play a critical role in society.
Q: What is something people in your industry/niche have to deal with that you want to be fixed?
I have found that sometimes in this industry, data is something people are fearful of – they worry that data will be used against them by someone they are accountable to (funders, supervisors, etc.) or that it will tell a story about their work that isn’t accurate. What I love about ResultsLab is that we work through these fears with organizations. We encourage organizations to focus their data collection efforts on continuous improvement while still making sure they check the necessary boxes for their funders. We work with our clients to collect data that tells an accurate and rich story about their work so they can use it to inform real decisions they are making day in and day out.
Did that post leave you wanting a fresh baked good and a nice, refreshing drink? Us, too. Thanks, Rachel, for opening up and shedding some light into your personal and professional lives. We’ll be back with another installment of our Meet the Team series soon.
